The pure and joyous expression of the gifts God gave you

“I designed you to dance and dream”.

God gave me such a clear sense this morning of the joy, flow, abandon, certainty of knowing we are HELD and that He created us to dance and create and live this life joyously, with full expression, and you know what I realised?

The devil has got many of us God kids running scared to walk in full freedom.

Scared to wrongly use our gifts.

Scared that full expression or abandon, being wild, letting loose, must be our flesh, the world, new age, SELF.

And Lord forbid we whole-heartedly expect our desires to be brought to life, in every area no less!

But read Song of Solomon.

If that was re-written in modern day prose and you didn’t know it was from the Bible you would think it’s worldly romance at best! Wayyyyyyy too hot and fleshly for it to be from God!

Except it’s not. Because it IS from Him. So it’s NOT flesh and self and lust, it’s love and romance and covenant the way God designed it.

How ’bout David?

He danced with ALL HIS MIGHT before the Lord. Publicly. So much so that his wife was embarrassed at his wild abandon, and mocked him. Did God agree with her? No, He said she would not bear children because of her mockery of the expression of the Lord’s beloved!

When did YOU last publicly let loose with wild abandon as a worship to the Lord through WHO HE MADE YOU TO BE?

When did I?

When did we last fully dance and dream, spin and twirl with our words or work or message or art or very person, laugh joyously and uproariously, and dare to absolutely LOVE the fact that we get to live this life and be who we are, even amidst all the ups and downs?

When did the work we’re putting out into the world last reflect the FULLNESS of the joy and desire and faith God has planted in us?

We grew up singing ‘I’ve got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart’ (‘where?! down in my heart. where?! down in my heart!’), but is it stuck there?

Hidden, scared to come out for fear of being judged as TOO merry and free, and therefore not a reflection of holiness?

The Holy One Himself made us in His image and He did not say dial down the bits you or anyone else consider too much!

He did not give us gifts, power, authority from heaven for us to then mete them out in a careful little box RELIGION calls acceptable or FEAR tells us is ok, but also maybe even then still not!

In the Name of Jesus I rebuke every voice in or coming at you or I telling us to be careful, God won’t be happy and people will think some kind of thing, and I declare freedom freedom freedom and wild abandon, the joy of the Lord to fully be and expect all He has put in you over your lips, words, outlook, desires and decisions now!

Phewwwww this has got me simmering. I’m not sure if it’s in a burning anger at the lies we’ve been duplicit in in our own lives, or a growing excitement at what I know it’s time to release in my own work and life and also call you into your own version of in yours!

More so the latter.

Joy wins.

AND IT NEEDS TO.

Sister, we cannot afford to keep slow crawling our way to what God already gave us supernatural favour to soar into and right through!

And we CANNOT let our expression, which is to say our reflection of Jesus on this earth through our acceptance of the assignment of being who He made us to be, be a toned down, watered down, colourless mess of BLAH because we are scared to be bold. Fierce. Bright. Forthright. CERTAIN. And to expect by faith every promise He has given us and is watering in us even now!

So, throw off the bowlines.

Sail away from the safe harbour.

Catch the winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover.

And remember whose beyond earth you are.

HE MADE YOU TO BE WILD AND FREE.

Trust that He will lead you in what this looks like for you, and stop filtering based on your own insecurities and fears, and the worlds sharp tongue and shaking head as it tries to tell you what holiness looks like.

And He’s watching.

He made you to be wild and free, and to see Kingdom come through you doing that.

This means you are made to win. To be wildly successful at whatever you are called to. To be the literal trend-setter, because you have the Holy Spirit. To SEE His favour outworked through your work and life. To take off flying and then some!

Enough with pretending we are anything other than the treasured, favoured, already victorious for His glory, provided for, OVERFLOWING children of the King.

LET YOUR BUSINESS, MINISTRY, FINANCES, AND LIFE, REFLECT THAT.
