SAY THE THING

I’ve made a very good living for 2 decades online now just repeatedly saying the thing.

A lot of the time that thing has been self-conscious making, squirmy, caused me to feel silly about who I am or what people think, on occasion even resulted in me hiding the laptop in the fridge for a few days so it can’t come at me (Joey: The Shining: IYKYK), and yet?

There’s been probably less than 5x out of literally thousands of blogs and posts where I’ve really thought ‘I shouldn’t have posted that’, or taken it down.

There’s been precisely one post I still to this day regret having ever written or being read (by my parents), and which I’ve struggled to forgive myself for… yet chosen to anyway because grace…

And if I had the time all over there are a good handful I just wouldn’t publish again due to my now outlook on not necessarily having to reveal ALL your personal drama, but even with those I just look back and think welp-

That’s how I became her.

The me who somehow just walked forward day by day and breath by breath, simply letting what was in her out, falteringly and with much over-thinking at first. Questioning and feeling actually terrified when first she wrote revealing or raw pieces about her own addictions, misaligned choices, or just intense learnings. Slowly but surely realising that woah-

Not only CAN you just say the actually unfiltered thing and you don’t… die. But also, woah –

People like that.
It helps them.
It’s needed.
And discomfort aside it is good in my soul as a writer, leader, messenger, to do that!

The fact that it then made me tens of millions of dollars in the online coaching world and led to my positioning for years as ‘the’ go to female coach if you wanted to unapologetically be fully you and make and impact millions doing it was just…. a by-product.

It just happened.
I never decided to MAKE that happen.

But I will say this –

Since before I even knew it was gonna be all about the unfiltered message I DID expect it. 

In fact I assumed that outcome was happening since I was 11 and first picked up my Dad’s Tony Robbins books!

Two decades later, so 15 years ago now, when I first started to write consistently and without filter, and also let me without filter releasing of my PAID message be consistent, I eventually clocked that this messaging thing was always the pathway I would take to those outcomes.

But no.
I never did the work FOR the outcome.

I wrote and continue to write the thing because in the end I can’t not.

Because it’s who I am.

Because it’s what I carry.

Because it has to be released.

Because I was born for it.

And because every time I quit this thing I lose myself, and not in a good way.

So…

Say the thing.
Say it now
Say it on repeat.

And also SELL the thing, it’s the literal same principle. Selling is just messaging. What you’re selling is also just a message! 

Look, in the end, it is ALWAYS as simple as and then she just didddddd!

So let’s break it down. Here are 5 non-negotiables of being who you were born to be if who that is is one of US.

1) SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE IN THE DRIVERS SEAT

Newsfact:

You can feel self conscious, be squirming in your pants about what people are going to think, be 6 ways to Sunday tangled up on whether you should or should say all THAT… or just whether or not it’s repetitive (I hope so, your message is your message!), lame (it’s not), nobody is listening (speak it as though they’re already there and they will) or what-EVA, and?

You can still just show up.

Self consciousness and its cronies are allowed to be there. 

They just don’t have to be in charge.

2) DISCERNMENT DISCERNMENT DISCERNMENT

Yeah there are exceptions! And yeah you do actually know that in your spirit! Listen to the judge of STOP or WAIT, especially if it’s the Holy Spirit.

Just don’t listen to FEAR or WHAT WILL THEY THINK. Know the difference. And you do.

3) YOU ARE THE MESSENGER NOT THE EDITOR OR CRITIC OF YOUR MESSAGE

Think about it.
Apply it.
Be on your way.

4) BECOME THE PERSON WHO

If you were already the chick doing the thing on repeat then you’d just do the thing yeah? So do THAT. On repeat. Like you do with the other stuff in your life which is just part of who you are. Yes? YES.

5) THIS IS AN IDENTITY CONVERSATION!

That’s what’s really going on here. 

And here is what else:

It’s not just about the identity you could step into, habitise, and LET unfold.

It’s about the fact that this is who you already are.

And it is eating you alive to repeatedly not be her.

Because you’re making it too hard.

Because you think (and are often wrong but even if not does that matter more?!) people are going to think some kind of way about it.

Because you don’t know all the steps.

Because you just didn’t!

Enough.

ENOUGH.

It has to stop.

For all of us who know there’s a NOW reality already shining bright and alive in our spirit.

It has.to.stop.

So say the thing.

Throw fear based caution to the wind!

CUT TO PIECES EVERY BOWLINE.

BURN THE SHIPS.

And say.the.thing.

It’s only your life.
