I was reading a client’s intake questionnaire this morning, reading about her dreams and call and KNOWING and clearly God-given desire to pour out and build a thing, come back to building a thing as a messenger and voice online, and do you know what hit me the most?
It wasn’t that she is so obviously called in this way.
It wasn’t that CLEARLY there is grace for her to walk forward in this.
It wasn’t even that I could fully see her in that role, I could SEE her doing the thing, leading, creating, writing, speaking, showing up, I could see it realer than what we think is real here in this realm.
No.
What struck me the most?
I thought “yes. This IS you. And it could so easily just not happen at all. You could so easily just … not.”
Don’t hear what I’m not saying. No part of me was assigning this as likely destiny to her! It was NOT a doom and gloom insight.
It was the simple stark reality that is true for each of us:
Being called does not mean we will answer the call.
I’ve been saying online for well over a decade now:
Just because you have a destiny, does not mean you will ever live it.
I jumped on the first zoom with that client and we had an INCREDIBLE call together and truly saw the path of simple fire and flow God is calling her to. I also got to see her ACTIVATED into certainty to choose to be that version of her.
As always, God put the exact words in my mouth for the exact person at the exact moment, and, as is always the way when talking face to face with a client, I got to see those moments of revelation land, and create change in her inner atmosphere right as they did.
We spoke about the sense I had when reading her questionnaire, we spoke about how true that same possibility has been for my own life in this past season of walking back into the call on my life, now deeply planted in God, we spoke about how REAL it is that just because anybody can see that I, or she, or you, are absolutely and without doubt called for the thing, it does not mean we will ever do it!
And the thing is … also why I’m writing this for you today … there is a line we each walk past when the time to be pulled back, hidden, ONLY in the secret place with God, is just … done.
And we know it.
And we KNOW that we know it.
And bit by bit we also know that we’re now just letting fear and doubt and ‘but howwwwww’ creep up on us, and meanwhile day after day is passing in which we’re not doing the thing and we KNOW THAT WE KNOW THAT WE KNOW THAT IT’S WELL PAST GO O’CLOCK and the hold up?
Is not on God.
Phew, this is the real and raw of being a called one in leadership, in the marketplace, in ministry, in life!
It’s not for the faint-hearted, but also we HAVE THE HEART OF THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH and that’s not faint.
I know how hard it is to pick the thing up. In the first place. Let alone AGAIN! And I also wanna tell you that that hard doesn’t just snap away because you finally DID do so! Sorry!
It takes a WHILE.
Of consistently stepping forward again.
Of putting on right identity (Jesus!)
Of casting off and over to Him everything which is NOT that.
Of discipline to WAIT on His presence, on power from on high, and not just try carry out authority you’ve been given in your own strength.
Of discipline to then sit your butt in the chair, take that deep breath, and DO the thing. Knowing He will put the words in your mouth and the fire in your bones will come out!
Ya know?
I know you know 😉
So I just want you to know from ME –
I believe in you.
I BELIEVE YOU ARE AS CALLED, AND THEN SOME, AS WHAT YOU KNOW YOU ARE.
But just like is true for my client and for me, I also know you have to take SO seriously the fact that being born for it don’t make it happen.
My love, TODAY is the day of salvation.
Every bit of it.
That includes you saying yes to the call (again!).
And knowing He who put it in you will cause it to come outta you.
So GIVE your yes.
WAIT on Him for that power, His grace, His PRESENCE.
Wait with CERTAINTY AND EXPECTATION, because you do know it’s time.
And then?
DO THE THING DO THE THING DO THE THING.
It’s not like there’s some other option you’re hoping to find, is there?
So let it be this simple. Let it be part of who you are. Repeat!
