You might have been taken out of Egypt, set free from bondage, free free free at last and free indeed, but lemme ask you a question:
Has the Egypt been taken out of you?
(If you’ve no idea what I’m talking about think:
somebody was set free yet after years of imprisonment and torment their mindset and also perception of reality and thus what they shape with their thoughts and SEE is still one of a slave).
See here is the thing with a slave mentality. With living in reactivity, fear, and pain –
A slave mentality will snatch you back in every single TIME you take your eyes off of freedom.
You know by freedom I mean a person, right, the one who SET you free or, if you suspect you’re still in fact bound, the only one who can.
In fact that slave mentality you’ve been carrying round and calling identity will whiplash you so freakin’ fast back into the place of endless should-ing and striving you’ll barely even notice and just assign the ongoing pain and stickiness into “it’s because I should be trying harder”.
“If only I would have already / if only I finally started / if only I didn’t / if only I did / if only I could / if only I would!” / STOP!
You’re not GOING to!
(Prepare for mad encouragement. So fun!)
– You are not going to ever
– No way
– No how
– Not a chance
– Not if you give your entire LIFE (haven’t you already??)
– Get to the bit where YOU SAVED YOURSELF, SORTED IT ALL OUT, AND NOW YOU CAN FINALLY BE.
TODAY is the day to be, and to realise that if you’re in Jesus and He’s in you, you’ve submitted and surrendered your life to and acknowledged as your Lord and Savior the one who gave it to you? Yes indeedy you are free and fully but fully fully FULLY already equipped to be.
This means:
* Today is the day of freedom
* Today is the day where it gets better and brighter than yesterday
* That ONLY keeps going
* Your needs wants and desires per your OG design are already met and for free
* You have a supernatural power and grace and authority from God Himself to walk forward confidently carried and already victorious in everything you are assigned to do
* Oh yeah, and the whole ‘figuring out what or how bit’? Well God already fashioned your day already, down to the dot point, so you might as well just ask Him and thank Him that His Spirit already leads you

So here is what we are talking about. Right now. Today. For YOU.
The Bible tells us we have to put on Christ daily.
To me this is simple and speaks to discipline and choice in anything in life. Just say yes and believe.
If I walk in the doors of the gym I WILL get the workout done. In fact if I put the outfit on I will! Because of an outfit, or walking into a room with the right equipment available?
Because it’s who I am and who I continue to choose to be. Trusting that when I go ‘in’ … with what I clothe myself with. What I pick up. And what I do with it. There will be an outcome which is a default outcome of being that person.
Same as going ‘in’ to the environment of being a writer. A coach. A parent. Or anything!
We ARE that person as soon as we are, and we can’t not be. I can’t not be a Mum. An entrepreneur. A leader. Or even an athlete! Some of these and other roles in my identity were right there with me when I rolled out of the womb. Others I CHOSE at a certain point in time. And then I kept choosing, til it became just who I am.
As I like to say … make it easy. Make it part of who you are. Repeat!
The thing is, I still KEEP on choosing. I choose daily to be an athlete. Even on the days when I’m not perfect or I go actively off track of that I AM still that athlete, but if I were to continue to not choose the outlook and behaviours which go hand in hand with being her then eventually? I might completely lose that sense of identity.
These are not perfect analogies.
But you get what I’m saying.
And now let me say this:
If you have been set free, your status is set to free girl (or guy). It’s your default! It is now who you are. You don’t gotta (can’t!) work to get it. And even when you’re not perfect that didn’t mean you lost it.
But you do gotta do the spiritual equivalent of putting those gym clothes on baby!
Through your declaration. Your inner and outer voice. Your active seeking of and going in to the place where you GET that fresh equipping, God’s presence. And so on.
What you are NOT, what you have been REMOVED from, and this is true no matter how your circumstances seem to be lining up?
BONDAGE.
All kinds of it.
So think about this –
When you are not sure of your next move.
When you desperately need breakthrough.
When you are tempted to go do things that somebody who is not free would do.
Or to be your own salvation even though you surely KNOW it doesn’t work.
The catch of course is that you and I can’t of our own accord answer that!
And so the answer is as it always is:
“God help me. I say I put you on afresh right now Jesus. I say I have a sound mind, a clear and confident mind, your mind. I say I am led by the Spirit. I say I am free! And I thank you that you cause me to walk now in that freedom and to reflect and carry and glorify you always! In Jesus Name I say these things.”
Or some version of that.
Look, in the end it’s very black and white and very simple:
Believe God.
Do so daily.
