Are you being VERY courageous yet?

It takes courage to stand firm on what God has shown you.

It takes strength to insist it will BE.

When every part of your mind is screaming it probably won’t happen, or that you’re not safe, it’s gonna require you to be strong and VERY courageous to hold that faith that you WILL see in the physical what you saw in the spirit, and what God’s word tells you is DONE.

Did you know God told Joshua three times to be strong and courageous, as he was about to set forward to take possession of the land God had promised the Israelites?

In fact He said to be strong and VERY courageous, and even after telling Joshua three times Himself, He had Joshua’s men also tell him to be strong and courageous!

I used to think, well – that’s because they were going to go to FIGHT to possess that land, they were going to literal war! Of course strength and courage was needed, EXTREME courage! The men of the land had already been scouted out as being giants, for heavens sakes!

But then I realised,

God’s favour went with them.
The land was ALREADY THEIRS.
They just hadn’t taken possession of it yet.
They had the PROMISE,
and now it was time (Hebrews 11) to OBTAIN it.

But here’s the thing –

The literal act of fighting to take possession wasn’t the real thing to be strong and courageous about.

These men were experienced at fighting! Fighting was a not uncommon part of life, particularly as the Israelites advanced forward in God’s plan.

No.

The bit to be strong and VERY courageous about?

Was the bit about actually walking forward onto the Promised Land, and taking ownership of it, such total ownership that God said (Joshua 1) every place Joshua’s foot tread would be his.

Wanna know what’s scary? PROPERLY scary?

Getting what we actually dreamed about, longed for, and also KNEW, by the Spirit of the Lord, was ours.

Okay, it’s not scary once we’re there I guess! And once any left right checking as to whether or not it really happened gets subdued! But the bit where we are peeping over the edge of that new thing God has already given us perception for, eyes wide open as we start to imagine that it really REALLY is real …. whew. Maybe it’s just me, but that brings UP some stuff.

Stuff like whether you’re going to walk forward and then find out it’s NOT for you after all.

Or whether you’ll fall on your face in the muck and get stuck again!

Or maybe you don’t have what it takes??!

But guess what –

IT IS NOT YOUR ARM OR FAVOUR WHICH BRINGS YOU IN. Go read Genesis. Exodus. Leviticus. Numbers. And Deuteronomy. And PS NUMBERS IS ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING BOOKS WHEN YOU REALLY DIG IN.

But anyway.

Ya know?

This stuff, this human stuff, this human resting in JESUS stuff, this human who believes the PROMISES of God stuff, this human who also goes AFTER said promises, man oh man.

It takes COURAGE. Nerves of steel, feels like!

Except for, oh, idk –

The fact that God said what He said and He will perform it??

So here’s what we’re going to do.

Head up.
Boobs out.
Shoulders back.

And TELL GOD YOU’RE READY TO WALK ON IN WHERE HE MADE FOR YOU AND IS CALLING YOU TO.
