Where you are meant to be. And the thing you simply can’t not.

In the end, it’s the thing you simply can’t not. And the place you simply are just meant to be.

The prayer meetings at my church have become an integral part of my life over the past 15 months. I don’t think it’s possible for me to transfer in words just how dramatically they have shaped me, equipped me, filled me, and given me on-repeat-fresh-VISION for where God is taking me.

If only more people KNEW,

the power of being soaked in and living a life of truly alive PRAYER. Both alone and with others!

This morning as I was leaving and chatting to the Pastor, mentioning I’d only had 3.5 hours sleep last night because apparently jet lag thinks it’s a real thing, he commented that he was amazed I was even there.

I mean look, the bizarre and uncalled for 12 hours sleep the night before made up for the teensy one last night, but real answer?

I’m there because it’s where I’m meant to be.

I hope I don’t sound holier than thou in saying this, because that’s certainly not my heart, but the flat out reality of what God has put in me in a myriad of ways over the last few years is that I have a daily increasing fervour to be in His presence.

ANY person who has truly encountered the living God, met with His Holy Spirit, been awakened by supernatural encounter, vision, revelation, and more, and who has cultivated a practice of spending sweet sweet intimate time with Jesus, will tell you the same thing.

Best part of the 30 day INCREDIBLE UK & Europe holiday I just got back from with my daughter? Easy. It was the moments of wild encounter with Jesus early in mornings when I got up by myself to meet with Him, before another amazing day of adventure, culture, food, and way too many steps to count.

That’s just how it is, how it gets to be, how it should keep on being. There is NOTHING better than meeting with God, and the more we stoke that fire the more we long for more of Him, which He then gives as we seek Him!

Along the way, He also gives us certain things where we physically or practically are meant to be.

I think often about the scripture where Jesus as a boy goes missing and His earthly parents are worried sick.

“I was in my Father’s house”, He says. “Where else would I be?”.

That’s how I feel about the early morning prayer meetings during the week at my church.

Where else would I be; where else COULD I be? This is where I’m meant to be. EXACTLY. And now.

I had the same exact knowing when I spoke a couple months back at our first big business leaders event. GOD was my preparation, and whew – what came out of me was anointed. People definitely did not expect what they got from a 7am Kingdom Business Leaders event!

That wasn’t me.

Yes, I said yes.

But I just said yes to where I HAD to be, opened my mouth, and God did the rest.

I had no idea, when I said yes to being fully committed to the prayer meetings start of last year, meaning – this is something I do, not something I attend if it suits me – what it would lead to. What a TRAINING ground it would be. The deep relationships which would be built. Or that it would lead to God’s positioning of me in a multitude of ways which are still unfolding!

I had no idea how it would break me, shape me, rock me, shock me, and awe me on repeat at who He is, at His glory, and at witnessing and being part of a church actually on fire for and surrendered to the real person of Christ.

I just knew I was meant to be there.

Can I ask you something?

I was thinking about this concept just before relevant to work. THIS kind of work. What we do.

Messengers. Artists. Leaders. Revolutionaries. Preachers. Waymakers. Those who are a voice and a vessel for the Lord!

How’s it going for you?

How is the FIRE within you?

Do you feel like it’s just a definite thing that it’s gonna come out, and also be the right fire?

Or does it seem you gotta go looking for it and in some ways manufacture it?

Me, this past season … by which I mean however long a piece of string we care to pick up, because I could mark it at any point really for years back … there’s been a lot more figuring out or trying to make happen then what I once thought was even possible.

I was the queen of flow! I OWNED it! And I didn’t doubt it.

But bit by bit, praise the Lord, I grew out of who I was being, because I realised that the one person my identity was actually formed in was missing.

And that while the gifts were right, the manifestation of ’em? Not so.

In the necessary stripping off season, a lot of doubt crept in. Worry. Fear. At times apathy. And mostly just frustration, at not being able to consistently seem to find my flow again.

Yet,

I knew it wasn’t gone.

Because when I met with Jesus … when the world dropped away again, grew pale and dim … when it was without agenda and a worry about how to BE right for the internet or even for who I thought God wanted me to be … when I was just writing,

speaking,

releasing,

often privately, then increasingly within my offline world, then ever more boldly in the community God has me placed in there …

oh the flow was FLOWING.

I bet you have your own places where the flow just flows too, yes?

Maybe it’s been a while … but even if so. You know there is a place where it just IS.

And so now we need to come to this:

In your work.
In your messaging.
In what you are here to EMIT.

What is the thing which you simply can’t not, if only you wouldn’t stop yourself!

It’s the thing you are just meant to do. Be. In its PURITY, nothing added or taken away.

That’s the thing to do.

Not to question.

Not to try and edit, or filter, or make good enough, and certainly not to make WORK.

But just to do.

Release.

And then be on your way. Trusting God has a plan and He IS weaving it all together.

Why am I in prayer on repeat?

Because it’s where I’m meant to be.

Why am I here, writing this?

Not to pick up a business, ministry, calling again, as a writer and speaker, and make sure I perform right or deliver you the right content, content that will ‘work’.

But because it’s where I’m meant to be.

That’s the way.

That’s the clear path.

That’s what God already put in you.

It’s the place you are meant to be. If it’s the place you KNOW you’re meant to be.
