YOU CAN’T BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT YOU ARE

I want to talk to you today about the fact that you can’t be anything other than what you are.

This is simultaneously, I find, one of the most infuriating and yet most exciting realities about this life.

Perhaps the infuriating bit is not that, in the end, you GET to be all of who you are, and that not only is that the thing which ‘works’ and lets you finally breathe, but also every last BIT of who you are is a needed and perfect part of this picture.

Instead the infuriating bit is the bit where, well … somehow it takes you a lifetime to accept this.

Can I tell you something reassuring, to help you out?

It’s gonna take you a lifetime to accept this.

You will never be done with questioning ‘do I really get to’, or ‘can it be as simple as’, or ‘is it really just surrender and flow with the thing it already in fact IS in me’.

You will question and wrestle with your flesh on this for all of your days!

Isn’t it reassuring to know this, to realise there’s no POINT fighting to get to the bit where you are ALWAYS certain, aligned, on track, choosing right?

It is!

Because when you realise that the point is not, was never, to overcome your wrestle with your own humanness … WOW the time you can reclaim right away this instant! Right now can be the moment you just – let go. And you say –

“I am done trying to figure it out, done trying to get some place where I have or am enough, done trying to BE right!”

Do you know what happens? When you let go of trying to be your own god, get it right, back yourself and cause yourself to be yourself?

YOU GET TO ACTUALLY JUST BE.

But make no mistake. This is not just a nice idea, a conscious evoking of a reality YOU can’t reach because babe YOU can NOT.

You’ll just be doing the exact same figurin’ out and trying to align right except now you’re calling it ‘being’ instead of doing .

This takes God, and God alone.

It takes surrender to Jesus, and fully.

And it takes being in the spirit, led by His Spirit, on all things.

It’s not OVERCOME your endless striving and quest to do or be. It’s realise Jesus already DID, and then it’s OPT OUT. Unsubscribe. No thank you! Because instead we are OPTING IN to seeking the Kingdom of God, to sitting in the heavenly place He has placed us, to waiting on His presence til it falls on us, to catch His beat, to once again see, and each time a little more, what HE has given us to walk forward in, and then?

Simply to voicing it, and moving as He leads.

With all of the stuff we endlessly in our own strength try to get … be … do … have …

done.

In all areas.

And our being, our right being, of simply who we are?

It is an AUTOMATIC FOLLOW ON which occurs when we are in the Kingdom. When we seek and wait on His presence. Catch His beat. Sit in the Holy of Holies til He shows, moves, directs us. We will then AUTOMATICALLY flow with our right being.

It’s a supernatural outcome of relinquishing you, of laying down your (so-called) life, that you now receive it; the real one.

Here’s where we often miss a bit. The biggest bit.

The opting out of our own way, and opting in to His? The seeking of the Kingdom and by that I mean ACTUALLY going into the spirit realm by His power and waiting til you are there THEN you see, know, act, receive, and BE?

It’s daily babe.

Often more often than daily.

It’s a dance we need to perpetually be entering into.

At times we will stay in that dance for beautiful breathless eons.

At times it seems as though we are actively needing to choose to take the first step back in nearly every moment.

The truth is you KNOW when you are on His beat.

And you certainly know when you are not.

Close your eyes with me, will you?

SEE, with your spirit?

ASK, and expect – “Lord show me. Show me who I am when I am in you. And show me what you would today have me do. In Jesus Name, Amen”.

Now wait.

Breathe.

Do you sense it, rising in you? Do you feel it, your being, coming through? Do you hear it, the sound He has given you to voice? Do you see it, the land your sound will cause to be shaped? Aren’t you in awe at it, His palpable presence in you?

And now,

what is not there,

that you’ve been trying to be?

And what is it that it just so clearly … is?

Gorgeous.

It’s only scary, hard, impossible, frustrating, worrisome in the sense that ‘how will it work’ when you flip back into your flesh.

When you’re in the spirit it’s just …

of course.

And then?

You just did.

The shiny pretty obvious ‘should do’ things will never stop coming. And surely there is so much you COULD do a really quite good or even great job at, if you determine to not quit.

That doesn’t make it life.

And certainly not yours.

It will never fit. The trying to be. The pushing to do. The quest to get or have ‘on your terms’. And let’s not pretend you don’t feel anything other than TORMENT at once again having to get up and make sure you be right.

So just … stop.

In the end,

you’re going to give in to being fully you.

We always knew this.

It’s just that for a while there we thought that it was on us to conquer the be fully who we are bit.
