Let’s play a game of imagine.
A game of leaning back.
And ACTUALLY,
relaxing.
You know …
that full surrender vibe. As opposed to the one in which you ‘lean back’ but what’s actually happening? Is you’re sitting in a V-ab brace and pretending you let go.
Can you stop and feel with me, for just a moment, what it would mean to truly – but TRULY – let go and surrender into the will, way, good, BEYOND imagination plan, and also FAVOUR of the Lord,
which rests upon,
around,
and also IN you,
as His child.
I mean … truly. Stop. Pause. Close your eyes. Exhale. Drop those shoulders down. Slow down your reading. Your breath. And just for a moment –
BE.
Not be ‘this’ or ‘that’ or ‘the girl who’.
But just –
Be.
Beloved.
Cherished.
Favoured.
Held.
Uplifted.
Graced.
Daughter,
(or son!).
Of the Lord.
Now see yourself leaning back, into His loving embrace.
Know that this is not me just trying to talk you through something.
I asked Him, as I mostly do, what He would have me write about today, and this is what came to me with immediacy.
I saw the visual.
Of you.
Me.
Us.
Truly,
SURRENDERED.
And with equal immediacy, in that vision, I saw the OH – !
Bright new beautiful awareness of all I could suddenly see.
And of all He truly has.
For you and for me.
If you’re with me right now, in this Holy Spirit moment, perhaps you too can sense the immediate RHYTHM which is simply …
different.
Close your eyes again.
“I am favoured”.
“I am blessed”.
“I am chosen”.
“I am cherished”.
“I am beloved”.
“He has called me”.
“He equips me”.
“He is establishing my work”.
“He causes my way”.
“He HAS me”.
There was a time last year when Jesus said to me “I’ve GOT you”.
And I understood it to mean – I didn’t have to worry anymore about what I was doing, where I was going, about figuring things out, or getting them right.
I understood He was saying – WHATEVER you choose Kat, I caused it and I am in it with you. So relax. FLY FREE. You are IN me.
The thing is that when we ARE in Him, and He in us …
He causes right desire.
Arranges our steps.
Blesses us as we go.
And provides for our every need and also want!
But do you know what I did?
Well, I thanked Him and celebrated!
And then I definitely PICKED BACK UP THE FIGURING OUT.
Mostly,
worrying about how to BE right,
as His daughter.
Some version of that!
And so now here I am again.
And perhaps here you TOO are again.
Taking that exhale again.
Saying “have your way Lord!” again.
But also,
maybe,
for the first time,
truly stopping to soak up the REALITY
of being held.
I don’t know about you,
but when I pause to observe myself as FAVOURED, as DELIGHTFUL to His eyes, as the one He cherishes and loves, as one whose song (art, expression!) gives Him joy, as His child who He adores …
and I know it is a GIVEN my every move is for glory of HIM …
I all of a sudden see myself putting down OH so much of what I thought it needed to be.
Ya know?
And with fresh eyes.
I pick up fresh paintbrushes.
Look through fresh vision.
And begin a fresh work.
Not because it will cause or allow me to be or have something,
but because it is THE something,
He put in me to do.
And so today I say to you as He says to me –
DANCE beautiful daughter of the Lord, dance. Paint, and draw, and sing, and roam. Let the lyric and lilt of your voice reach the heavens. Be uncontained as He MADE you to be. And know that as you flit here, and there, and then there again,
the way of an artist
messenger
voice
it is He who leads you.
So stop trying to figure out what being led right would look like.
And let your brushstrokes reflect the dance
song
epistle
and joy
of the one the Lord favours
and has blessed to be
her.
