Being the burning one, the sent one, the one who is set alight and whose very presence pours out fire from heaven because of the power of the Holy Spirit at work in her, does not mean you will always FEEL carried away, lit up, brimming with a torrent you cannot wait to pour out.
There will be many days where what you feel is … nothing in particular.
Nothing urgently needs to be said.
Nothing is grabbing ahold of your spirit.
Nothing is CONVICTING you.
Nothing is the definite certain right now message of the Lord for you to sit with, release, get that activating sense of BECOMING.
This is EXACTLY the time when the question becomes ‘and who do you say you are anyway?’
Because it would be so easy to scrabble something together and serve it up with a good ole dose of Hype Queen Spicy Sauce poured over it.
It would be so easy to jump around the internet til you get a dopamine hit SOMEWHERE, and then ride that wave.
And it would also be so easy, in those moments where nothing in particular did seem to stir in your quiet time with God, to lean back from the call you flat out know He has placed on your life.
To start to question, ‘maybe it’s not really who I am, to be that voice, that vessel, that leader’.
‘If I was I’d be FIRING SHOTS OF CERTAINTY AND TRUTH AND FILLED WITH A FRENZY TO SPEAK DANCE SHOUT FOR THE LORD’.
What we’re not saying, when something within us goes that way?
‘I need THAT! The PHYSICAL response and ability to show up a certain way is my proof’.
I know. SCARY, right?
This is why it’s so critically important that we unshakeably know who we are in God, that we seek His Word and His fresh oil for us daily to know who He says we are, that we repeatedly sit in the vision He has given us and called us to, and that we TAKE SERIOUSLY THE POSITION WE ARE ALREADY OPERATING FROM.
Namely, regardless the particulars of your unique call or assignment, seated in heavenly places. Given authority and power. His child. Chosen. Cherished. ARMED. And anointed and appointed for such a time as this in whatever way He has shown you and IS showing you.
In other words …
can you be willing to believe God for your life even when nothing in or around you seems to be yapping with excitement or any sort of palpable sensation about it, and when the only ‘proof’ you have in this moment is what God SAID, and what deep in your spirit in the place which just is you do in fact know it’s STILL what He said?
And can you be willing, within that, to steward well today what He has given you, even if you don’t have any sensation or hoo-rah energy to prop you up to do so?
The truth is that God never said ‘go forth and multiply and prosper’ so long as you’re really FEELING it that day.
He didn’t say ‘for I have given you the power to create wealth and it’s activated by you being in a mood to jump up and down on the internet about it’.
He didn’t call us to submit ourselves to be His SENT one so long as we can clearly see the steps and they’ve got neon all over ’em so YAY!
And I personally think He allows us these times of feeling quite ‘meh’ in our soul to bring us back to the greatest tool we have at our disposal which is that of our words, and what we choose to declare and continue to agree with ANYWAY.
There are so many times in life where we are NOT going to see the tangible manifestation of God’s word right away, and sometimes not even in our own lifetime!
Are we going to agree with it anyway, or are we going to either be huffy or else resigned to it ‘not really being the day to charge forward for the Lord’ until we feel it?
Are we going to declare His Word over our kids when it appears nothing is changing, or will we only get excited and loud and certain about it when we see what WE think is evidence?
But FAITH is the evidence of things NOT YET SEEN, the SUBSTANCE of things not yet known!
Meaning, by definition as per Hebrews 11:1, faith is what we declare, believe, know, when we CAN’T see it, and it is a substance of something which already exists even when we DON’T know it!
These days, moments, or even seasons, where no part of you feels any kind of inspiration or desire to show up, to pray, to prophecy, to teach, to lead, to open your mouth and BE that walking voice and vessel of the Lord, these are CRITICAL times of equipping.
This is where you lay serious track in your own belief and walking declaration that Christ is your firm foundation and your certainty AND your hope and future, not whichever evidence of the day you were hoping to see!
Not even whichever evidence of Christ in you was manifest into being and DID give you some sort of giddy overflow and fire yesterday!
One thing we can be sure of, if we are saved:
We HAVE the Spirit of God in us, and everything which God has given us in Him.
One thing we need to stop being sure of:
That His glory manifest through us today looks any kind of way.
You are not only a mother, sister, daughter, friend, on the days you palpably feel it or know how. You would never even consider such an idea, it would sound crazy to do so!
So stop acting like you’re only a daughter of God who is called and being sent into HUGE vision and assignment He’s given you on the days you palpably feel it or know how.
THAT IS NEXT LEVEL CRAZY, and in an only treacherous way.
So much so, that if this lands for you, then today may even be the day to repent for and renounce every way in which you’ve been waiting for something YOU call certainty, waiting for hope in what you SEE, rather than walking forward boldly with what God says.
How, you ask? How to walk forward boldly when zero part of you is feeling that kinda way or knowing how?
BECAUSE IT’S CHRIST IN YOU ANYWAY.
And if His Presence doesn’t go BEFORE us,
we don’t want it anyway.
Right?
RIGHT.
